Event Description:
Journey to Pi(e) Island with Odell Public Library on Saturday, March 14th from 1-3:14pm to celebrate Pi Day! March 14th is celebrated as Pi Day because 3.14 are the first digits of the mathematical constant pi. Participants of all ages are invited to complete a “pi”rate treasure hunt filled with fun math and pie-based activities. Completion of the treasure hunt rewards hungry explorers with fresh-baked pie from Morrison’s own ‘Pie Lady,’ Louise Clark. The event aims to bring the community together to explore and experience math in new ways. This is a free, drop-in event open to all.
Impact Volunteers can expect to help run various "stations" during the event, some of which may involve explaining very basic math concepts. Don't worry - all information will be provided! If you're saying to yourself, "I'm just not a math person," this event is for you! We're aiming to change the narrative around math. We're not doing a deep dive or solving equations, but we are having fun with math concepts -- and there's free pie!
