Oct. 20, 2026
3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
10 Volunteers Requested
10 Spot(s) Left
Event Description:
To get the garden ready for winter we will be clearing out some of the dead plants and raking leaves that have blown into the garden.
The Master Gardeners from our local office of the Universty of Illinois Extension, SVCC agriculture and biology faculty, and the SVCC greenhouse manager will be joining us. This is a great way to learn from these knowledgeable people, discover the native prairie plants, and help make the garden grow its best.
Special Notes:
Work clothes and shoes to fit the weather are recommended. Garden gloves will also be helpful but are optional. Some tools will be available, but you are welcome to bring rakes, clippers, and trowels if you have them.
We will meet at the garden - which is on the Dillon Mall side of the building, just outside the building entrance from the large east parking lot near the solar panels.
This event will not be cancelled if the weather is rainy or cold. If the weather is too uncomfiortable for outside work we will work inside on research of the prairie plants to add to the garden's SVCC website.
This workday is scheduled for 3-5pm, but you may come late if needed.
