Wierenga Heritage Canyon

Dutch Days at Heritage Canyon Details

May 4, 2024
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4 Volunteers Requested
4 Spot(s) Left

Event Description:
Volunteers dress in 1800's apparel to recreate the life of pioneers. There are many jobs available: delivering meals to crafters in the buildings, helping out at the kiosk welcoming visitors, making sure crafters in the buildings have plenty of firewood and water, supplying music at the gazebo or church or visiting with people and welcome them to the canyon. Visitors like to see the apparel that pioneers wore. You can even offer to take visitors' pictures by some of the buildings.

Special Notes:
Recommended attire is dresses that are made of cotton and have a calico or similar print, for girls. Boys need trousers and a cotton shirt that buttons up the front; can add a vest, jacket or hat too. No cell phones are allowed when the public is around you. Girls can carry one in a purse and boys can have one in a pocket, but we don't want them out where people can see them.
